DVP Visit to Cambridge American Cemetery and Memorial
Many OBs will be familiar with the location of this Memorial on the western outskirts of Cambridge near to Madingley, but we wonder how many have managed to ever stop for a proper visit? It was established in 1943, and formally opened in 1956, and is rather significant as it is the only cemetery in the UK administered by the American Battle Monuments Commission. With this in mind, and in the build up to Remembrance Sunday, we have arranged for a guided tour to take place on Wednesday 8th November. We will meet at 10.30am and be shown the Cemetery and Chapel, and also have time to explore the interactive Visitors Centre which opened in 2014. For more information, please see here.
After the visit, we will drive the short distance to The Plough pub in Coton for a two course set lunch, with a vegetarian option. The day will cost £23 per head (including booking fee) which will include the guided tour, lunch (main, pudding, tea and coffee) and a donation to the upkeep of the Memorial. All OBs, partners and guests are most welcome at this event.
