The English Department’s annual prize giving will take place in the Langham Pavilion from 4.30pm-6.00pm on Monday 19 March. The event offers a chance to share many of the pieces boys have submitted for the Fowles, Detweiler and Wellbelove Prizes.

We are delighted that author and journalist Emma John, a writer and editor on The Guardian and The Observer, will be our guest speaker. Emma is a former deputy editor of Observer Sport Monthly and The Wisden Cricketer. In 2008 she was the first woman to win a Sports Journalism Award.  Her first book, Following On: A Memoir of Teenage Obsession and Terrible Cricket, was named the 2017 Wisden Book of the Year.  After her short talk, boys will have an opportunity to chat with Emma and pick her brains about journalism, writing, sport and bluegrass music!

All boys, parents and staff are invited to the prize giving.

Please email Mr Hopton, the Head of English, if you would like to attend.

Refreshments will be provided.
