Bedford School’s 1st XI defeated the highly respected MCC at a fixture held on Tuesday 1 May. During the exciting match Upper Sixth Former Emilio Gay scored a magnificent 107* to help set up victory for his team.  

Emilio’s 107* came off just 143 balls with a fantastic strike rate of 74.83 on a slow surface. Emilio demonstrated great patience and stuck to his game plan, which certainly paid off. Emilio hit nine fours in the innings and finished not out. 

After the match the MCC captain and Old Bedfordian Tim Chapman (88 – 98) presented him with a cap for his strong performance. As a result of his century he will now be invited to Lords for a lunch. 

Well done, Emilio! What a great start to the season.
