Both the U18 and U16 XIIs were in action over the Exeat
weekend, and both, impressively, featured in the plate finals.

The 1st VII continued their winning campaign, with
victory in the Plate competition, at the Windsor Sevens on Sunday 6 March
2016.  Victories against Windsor and Hampton, allied with two very close
defeats to Eton and St. Benedict’s, meant the pathway this weekend had to be
via the plate.

A comfortable semi-final win over Claire’s Court brought
about a second meeting with Hampton, where a 22-0 positive scoreline was a
fitting way to end a day, where several Lower Sixth boys gained valuable
experience.

The U16s were in competition at the QE Barnet Sevens.
They faced some tough opposition in the group stages, narrowly winning their
first game 12-10 against a physical Whitgift School, losing to a well-organised
Wimbledon College 14-29, and produced a more complete performance to defeat
Coopers Coburn 29-7 to finish second in the group and progress through to the
Plate.

Outstanding, defensive displays from the squad led to
victory against St Paul’s (7-5) in the quarter-finals and Millfield School
(22-12) in the semi-finals. In the final, the boys, unfortunately, came up
short against Denstone College to finish runner’s up.  However, their
performances were a significant improvement from the previous weekend;
promising progress ahead of the national competition in two weeks time.
