Mark Cazaly (01-06) is organising a sponsored cycle in The Gym on Wimbledon Park Road, London on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th August to raise funds for the Wandsworth Foodbank and Tower Hamlets’ First Love Foundation and is looking for your support!
The fitness fundraising initiative, Donate4Fit, is kicking off its programme of activities by attempting to raise over £1000 for the two charities, teams of volunteers from across the capital will be aiming to travel 1000km (that’s nearly 40 times round the Circle Line!) and burn 30,000 calories over 48 hours, all from the comfort of the exercise bikes at The Gym Southfields. The Gym is holding an open weekend during this event so members and non-members alike can all get involved, with free day passes available on Saturday and Sunday. Open to all, this fun fitness feat will be the start of a wider set of events focussed on ‘Doing good, feeling good’.
Mark said: “Foodbanks in London are vital to helping those in need with the very basic things in life. While it’s absolutely terrible that Londoners are going hungry and having to rely on foodbanks, I think it’s amazing that they can. The volunteers at these charities make a life-changing difference to people in times of crisis with help for the long term as well as emergency food parcels. That’s why I’ve set up this new initiative and am raring to go and get fundraising… and tick off my exercise for a while!
We’re in Wandsworth thanks to the generosity of the team at The Gym Southfields but are sending half the funds raised to Tower Hamlets, one of the most deprived parts of the capital and indeed the country.”
Donate4Fit are calling out to people across London to either donate their time by coming along and pedalling away in The Gym Southfields or to reach into their pockets and donate some urgently needed cash to these worthy causes.
