Fourth Former Darcy McBride is bang on target for a successful 2018 on the shooting ground.

In November, we saw Darcy finish first place in the Schools Winter Series. More recently, Darcy competed in the The Oxford Gun Company’s ‘Yildiz Championship’, finishing in second place in the U18 category. Quite a feat considering that Darcy is only 13 years of age and the Yildiz gun used in the competition was far too big for him.

Last week saw the first of The Schools Challenge Series 2018; a thrilling event with around 200 participants. There were two other competitions running alongside the main competition these being the Browning Rabbit Mania and the Pool Shoot, and we’re pleased to report that Darcy won the Rabbit Mania competition after a shoot-off by three clays!

Darcy also straightened the Pool Shoot 12/12, along with five others. They decided not to have a shoot off and instead split the monetary prize between them.

Despite an unfortunate start to the main competition, Darcy’s final score was 43/50 with the winner on 46/50.  This led to a shoot off for third place in the Preps category. Unfortunately, he lost this by just one clay and was therefore out of the medals.

All in all, this is a great start to the year for Darcy. We’re delighted to see him do so well with a sport he is obviously extremely passionate about. Well done Darcy!

Darcy is in the middle.
