Week commencing 25 April 2016

A quieter (due to the EXEAT weekend) but by no means less exciting week of cricket included run outs for our U14A, 14C, U15A and U15 teams against Wellingborough, U16A and U16B against Stowe and the 1st XI in action against Wellingborough in the first round of this year’s T20 tournament.

An excellent performance by the 1st XI who won the toss and elected to bat first.  Jake Duxbury and Bhavik Talsania got the team off to a flying start.  However, when Talsania was out, Charlie Clarke stepped up and batted superbly, scoring runs all around the ground at more than a run a ball. Duxbury was the backbone of the innings, playing solidly throughout his knock, but he also showed he was more than capable of playing big shots as his innings included three big sixes.

A final score of 169-5 was always going to be a tough chase for Wellingborough and this proved to be the case when Bedford took early wickets to take make the task for Wellingborough even tougher. Although Wellingborough kept going for the runs, they never really managed to keep up with the required run rate due to the excellent fielding and bowling by Bedford. Bedford kept the pressure on right to the end to ensure a comfortable win.

Bedford will play the winners of Oundle and Rugby School in the next round.
