Parents’ Guild

Community

The Bedford School Parents’ Guild, informally known as ‘The Guild’, was established in 1922 and is a committee made up of parents and guardians of current Upper School boys.

The Guild is a friendly and active group of parents and guardians who help foster a strong sense of community at Bedford School. Through social events, fundraising, and practical support, The Guild plays a key role in connecting families with school life.

From running the nearly new uniform shop to serving mulled wine and mince pies at Christmas concerts, their efforts enhance the experience for boys and their families alike. Funds raised through events and shop sales go directly towards projects that benefit the pupils. New volunteers are always warmly welcomed to join in and make a difference.

New committee members’ appointments are made at our AGM in the autumn term.

Nearly New Shop

The Nearly New Shop is run by friendly parent volunteers. It stocks good quality pre-loved uniform and sports kit for the Prep School and Upper School.

There are four ways to support the nearly new shop:

  • Purchase items from the shop
  • Donate your items
  • Sell your items
  • Volunteer in the shop

If you have any questions, please email us at guildshop@bedfordschool.org.uk

The Nearly New Shop is something of an Aladdin’s Cave. From blazers and winter coats to cricket bats, rugby boots and cricket jumpers, if there is anything you need, we are likely to have it in stock. Many items are in excellent condition and are half the cost of new.

If you feel able, please consider donating your unwanted items of school uniform and equipment to the Nearly New Shop. That way, all of the sale proceeds go towards supporting projects in the school. You do not need to fill out any paperwork, just drop your unwanted items into the shop during their opening times or at Prep and Upper School reception, when open.

We welcome donations of school uniform in good condition. We ask that all donations are washed and ironed. If you have surplus uniform or sportswear, in good condition, that you would like the shop to sell on your behalf, you can either drop items off in the shop on opening days, or at Prep and Upper School reception, when open.

If you are finding it difficult to get your items into the shop, please contact us at guildshop@bedfordschool.org.uk to make an individual arrangement.

If you are selling items, prior to dropping off your items, please ensure that you have completed a seller’s information form and each item is labelled

Please put all items in a bag labelled ‘Guild Shop’ and drop them in the shop or at school reception.
