The Bedford School Chapel Choir choristers stepped out of the more comfortable and safe environment of the Chapel choir stalls last Friday and gave a wonderful performance of scenes from Mozart’s ‘Magic Flute’ opera at one of the Prep School Informal Concerts.

The boys had made their own puppets and presented arias and choruses from Mozart’s masterpiece, including the scene where Papageno’s magic bells put the evil spirits in the forest into a trance. The audience were encouraged to participate using sign-language to ensure that the magic bells did their work! The Head Master, Mr Ian Silk, liked it so much that the boys were encouraged to do a second performance today, in front of the whole of the Prep School. It’s not often that you see 400 boys sitting quietly listening to Mozart!
