We are delighted to announce that Bedford School has been awarded the prestigious National Career Mark for their outstanding careers provision.

Bedford School joins just eight other independent schools in the UK to hold this nationally recognised accreditation; a Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) award.

The Career Mark was awarded following a rigorous assessment that included a series of pupil and staff interviews, and written reports.

The report praised the school, reflecting that “Students were aware of the need to know themselves and how this would impact on their career choices. They could see the links between what they were studying now and their future career choices.” And that “Students at Bedford School are able to explore opportunities for training, work and personal development through a wide range of careers related activities and through facilities provided for independent research.”

Speaking about the Career Mark award, Mrs Mel Lincoln, Head of Careers & UCAS said, “We are delighted to receive this national award.  It is a wonderful validation of the high standard of careers provision delivered to boys across the school.  We recognise that high quality careers advice and guidance is vital to prepare boys for their futures; to help them to make the most of the opportunities open to them and, ultimately, find success and happiness after school.”

However, the award is only the first step; the school will continue to work with Career Mark over the next two years to ensure a constant cycle of improvement and development.
