Inspired by award-winning pianist Lucy Parhams lifelong passion for the music of Robert Shumann and Johannes Brahms, Beloved Clara brings to life the intense relationship between Schumman, his wife Clara and the dynamic young Brahms. Drawn from their intimate letters and diaries, and illustrated by their own wonderful piano music, this fascinating and moving story chronicles Clara and Roberts sometimes troubled marriage, from the deepening relationship between Clara and Brahms to Schumanns tragic decline into mental illness.
Beloved Clara premiered at the Wigmore Hall Masters Series in 2002, internationally at the Bergen International Festival in 2007, and has since been performed on stage and on radio throughout the world to great critical acclaim. For this performance, Lucy Parham will perform alongside acclaimed actors Joanna David and Martin Jarvis. Although unlikely, the actors performing may change at the last minute due to professional commitments. In this case, they would be replaced by equally well-known performers.
This performance will be in aid of Sharnbrook Mill Theatres £300,000 appeal to enable a green-energy based heating and natural ventilation system to be installed at the theatre. Sharnbrook Mill is very privileged to be able to present a special performance of this fascinating show and are hugely grateful to the distinguished artists who are donating their time to perform it.
Lucy Parhams trailblazing evening concerts in which she fuses music and words with the help of some of our most distinguished thespians, have become one of the must see events on the musical calendar
