A strong team of four Remove boys (Timmy Pong, Will
Barnes, James Whitehurst and Leon Williamson) competed in a Pentathlon style
event against the best athletes from eleven schools in the Bedford and Luton
district. Throughout the day the boys scored points in five events: 80m
Hurdles, High Jump, Discus, Long Jump and finished the day with a  gruelling 1500m race in the heat. All boys
dug deep and showed determination and talent as all round athletes, and
delivered some outstanding moments. Timmy Pong, who captained the team, was the
fastest hurdler of the day competing the 80mH in 11.7 sec with the second
quickest competitor coming in at 12.4 secs. The final race of the day was
particularly pleasing as despite being hot and tired, all four boys committed
themselves to the difficult 1500m race, ran strongly and paced themselves well
to ensure good team points. Will Barnes finished with dominance and produced
the quickest 1500m time of the day in 4min42sec. As such, the team finished
third overall and Timmy Pong received a medal for placing 3rd out of 34
athletes in the Intermediate Boys category.
