Alex Lamb (Y7) and Luke Pollen-Brooks (Y8) both earned podium places as they competed in their sports over half term break.

Following on from his European success in Sweden, Alex has been busy with three more badminton tournaments. In Sheffield, at the U13 Gold tournament on 20 October, Alex reached the quarter-finals to secure a top 8 place in the Male Singles, then just days later repeated his success in the Finnish Youth U13 tournament in Helsinki with another quarter-final spot in what was a tough competition with entrants from eight countries. One week later he surpassed himself even further to take bronze at the U15 Silver tournament in Reading. Alex lost the first set in the semi-final but won the second so there was all to play for in the final set, which could not have been closer. However, he lost the deciding set 14:15. As a result of his outstanding performances this year, Alex is currently ranked third in England in the under 13 age group.

Luke took to the water in a national swim meet over the break. Despite just stepping off a plane, he came first in his age group and beat all of his previous times. As a result of his success, he has been invited to swim in the OECS championships for Antigua.

Our congratulations to them both.
