Our congratulations to Fifth Former Reni
Omotomilola for an outstanding season in athletics.  As a member of our Talented Athletes Group
(TAG), Reni has shown himself as a great all-rounder in numerous sports, and this
has been exemplified in athletics over the last few months.

In May 2015 Reni, with the Bedford School team, competed
in a combined events match at Bedford International Stadium against the best
athletes from the schools in and around Bedford and Luton. Remi and his three
team mates took on five events in one day; scoring points Decathlon style.
Competition was stiff and close in all five events (high jump, long jump, 80m
hurdles, 1500m and discus).  In an
outstanding performance, Reni finished 3rd out of the 39 competitors,
with a particularly impressive long jump of 5.62m.

Following his success, Reni was invited to
represent Bedfordshire at the regional round in Chelmsford, where competitors
competed in eight events over two days.
Reni finished in fifth place; the highest position in his Bedfordshire
team. His results were as follows:

Long Jump 5.78m

Discus 21.65m

Javelin 23.62

400m 55.9s

100m Hurdles 16.2s

High Jump 1.66m

Shot Put 8.95m

1500m 5:12.9

Such strong performances scored Reni 3,581 points,
a fantastic score given that it was his first two-day Octathlon.

As a result of his performances, Reni has now been
invited to be part of the county team at the ESAA Combined Events
competition where he will compete against the best athletes in England in
another two-day competition. The competition takes place at Bedford
International Athletics on Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th
September, and we wish him the very best of luck.
