Four Bedford School pupils have received prizes for their outstanding artwork in the Harpur Trusts 450th Anniversary Art Competition.
The theme for the competition was Recording Bedford and entries we judged on originality and creativity, with the judges looking for imaginative responses to the themes.

Daniel Zhou was voted the overall winner with his intaglio print of the view from his boarding House, Redburn. The chief judge and artist Alex Chinneck commented it was, technically exquisite and with incredible mark making this picture transcends just being visual and becomes experiential and brilliantly moody. Daniel will be continuing with his art studies at Central St Martins next year.
Daniel, along with Henry Williams, Ignatius Ip, and Tom Rainbow received their prizes on Thursday 30 June 2016 at a special awards ceremony attended by the competitions judges, artist and designer Alex Chinneck, sculptor and former Harpur Trust grant recipient Suresh Dutt, Tom Perrett who is Head of the Higgins and Dawn Giles who is Chief Executive of &Co.
Nearly 140 entries, including those by our Prize Winners and four additional Bedford school boys, will be on display at The Higgins in the Sir William Harpur Gallery from Saturday 2 July through to Sunday 28 August.
