The
Adrian Boult Society had a lecture-recital from Mr Andrew Groom, our Musician
in Residence, ably accompanied by Mr Robert Thompson, on Friday 3 February.

Mr
Groom discussed the evolution of the Trombone, its fall from grace in the
Classical period and subsequent revival as a solo and orchestral instrument in
the nineteenth century.  The topic was of great interest to brass players,
and we had an excellent turnout.  Mr Groom also demonstrated a range of
different repertoire, including a ridiculously virtuosic set of variations!
