Following the sad passing of Mrs Jeanette (“JJ”) Beale on Tuesday 23 October, we are now able to share details of her funeral arrangements.

JJ joined Bedford School as Head of Maths in 2005 (from Dame Alice Harpur School) and has been an inspiration to generations of Harpur Trust boys, girls and staff in the past two decades.  She fought a long and courageous battle against cancer and will be deeply missed by all.

A Service of Thanksgiving for her life will be held on Saturday 3 November at 1.30pm at Bedford School Chapel to which boys, parents, staff, Old Bedfordians and all who knew JJ are most welcome to attend. The family ask that smart attire is worn but nothing gloomy.  Men are requested to wear their favourite ties (no black ties).

Tea and coffee will be served in the Great Hall immediately following the service, while the family attend her private burial at the St Alban Woodland Burial Ground, and all are invited to join the family for further refreshments in the Great Hall from 3.30pm following the interment.

JJ’s family, especially Mike and their two sons, are very much in our thoughts at this sad time. The family has requested no flowers, but any memorial donations may be made to Cancer Research.
