Following the sad passing of Mrs Caroline Medley on 26 September, we are now able to share details of her funeral arrangements. Those of you who had the privilege of knowing Caroline will remember that throughout her multiple bouts of illness and treatment she remained positive and upbeat; a truly inspiring role model to us all.

Caroline joined the Upper School in 2004 as an Economics and Business Studies teacher, and in 2007 she took charge of the Charities Committee. Over the years she worked tirelessly to support the boys in their fundraising efforts (their fundraising total now exceeds £300,000) as well as fundraising herself. She ran an incredible number of races for charity including a remarkable four London Marathons. She also shared her love of badminton with the boys and took numerous badminton teams to local, regional and national finals.

A private service for family and close friends will take place at Norse Road Crematorium on Wednesday 17 October at 3.15pm, and a Service of Thanksgiving for her life will be held afterwards at Bedford School Chapel at 4.30pm where everyone is welcome. This will be followed by refreshments in the Great Hall. Caroline requested that colourful clothing be worn. Boys, parents, staff, Old Bedfordians and all who knew Caroline are most welcome to join us to celebrate her life.

Caroline’s family are very much in our thoughts at this sad time and we would like to ask on their behalf if anyone has any photos of her that they would like to share with them. If so, please either send them to communications@bedfordschool.org.uk or leave them at the Bell Room and we will pass them on.

The family has also requested that any memorial donations be made to Bedford Hospital Primrose Unit, c/o Clarabut and Plumbe, 11 Kingsway, Bedford, MK42 9BJ.
