Four Remove Form boys feasted on problem-solving tests and questions as part of a mathematics competition hosted by the Advanced Mathematics Support Programme, and came joint first place in the process.

Shawn Shen, Makar Molchanov, Charlie Dowrick and Oli Pope put pen to paper to compete against 12 other schools in the regional competition held on 12 March. The enrichment event, which aims to stretch pupils beyond their main course of study, provided challenging maths problems for the boys to complete – often under extreme time pressure.

Mr Ben Jones, Teacher of Mathematics said, “The boys’ problem solving and teamwork skills were tested thoroughly and the standard of competition was high so we were delighted when they came out on top. They were overall joint winners and they represented the school brilliantly. Well done boys!”
