A Journey to Medicine

Lower Sixth Form students from Wixams Academy, Sharnbrook Academy, Mark Rutherford and Bedford Girls’ School were welcomed into school to join our own boys for a talk on the medical admissions process – a subject that requires students to consider a range of elements from the application process and entry requirements through to personal statements and work experience. And that is before they get to the University Clinical Aptitude Test (UCAT) and interview stage.

Giving the talk was James Telfer from the University of Nottingham, who provided an overview, plus guidance and tips, on how best to approach the application process.

Dr Shetal Arjan, Teacher of Biology and Head of Academic Extension and Enrichment, said afterwards, “It was lovely to see pupils from local schools at the medical admissions session delivered by the University of Nottingham. Participating in such information events is essential for aspiring medical students, offering key insights and strategies to navigate the competitive application process effectively.”
