If you live or work anywhere near Bedford School, you may have heard the unmistakable pulsating of helicopter blades slapping the air earlier this week. Much to the joy of the boys and indeed staff, a Royal Navy AW159 Wildcat landed on the school rugby pitch, and took three groups of four lucky cadets from our Combined Cadet Force, for a flight over Bedford.

Old Bedfordian Richard Watling (57-67) arranged for the visit through his work at the Distillers Livery Company, which has a number of military connections.

The cadets were hugely inspired by their flights, some now wanting to fly helicopters for a living.  We’d like to thank everyone involved with this special visit, especially the team at 825 Squadron NAS, based at Yeovilton in Somerset.
