Our Prep U11A and U12A Rugby squads had a superb weekend at
New Hall School and Finborough School.
Our U11A squad enjoyed the long Sunday trip to New Hall to
play in their annual Colts Tournament. They started well with two pool wins
over Bishop’s Stortford and New Hall B. It was then on to the winner’s pool,
which saw losses to St Paul’s Juniors and St Faith’s before a draw with New
Hall A and a win against Orwell Park to complete a great afternoon during which
the boys got better and better with each performance.
The U12A rugby
squad travelled to Finborough School for their tournament. In the pool stage
the Bedford Prep won two and lost one to come second in the group.
In their
close-fought quarter-final they faced Greshams School, were at the end of
full-time the scores were level at 10-10 so sudden death extra-time came into
effect. However, after both halves of extra-time there were no further
scores so it came down to a toss of the coin to see who went through.
Unfortunately, that went against Bedford and they entered into the Plate
Competition. However, undeterred, the boys went on to win their
semi-final 15-0 and then the final against Norwich School 20-5 to finish Plate
winners and fifth place in effect in the 16 team competition.
