Twenty-seven OBs, former staff and guests joined DVP for Bedfordshire, Dr Jason Reddy (79-84), for a delicious Christmas lunch at The Mermaid on Sunday 9th December. Situated in an idyllic Cambridgeshire village, this beautiful gastropub is run by two OBs; Oliver Swain (91-02) and Nick Marriott (92-02), and gets its name and lasting character from the old ships’ timbers used in its construction many years ago. Nick is the Michelin star-trained head chef with a clear passion about his cuisine, bringing a fusion of Asian inspired flavours to his creations.

It was wonderful to see everyone catch up over pre-lunch drinks. The beer was supplied by the Blackpit Brewery, run by a trio of entrepreneurial OBs: Ben Williams (91-02), Duncan Wheeler (95-02) and Oliver Whiteley (92-02).  As the group tucked in to their festive meal, it was good to see the room filled with lively conversation and laughter…with OBs and former staff reminiscing about their days at the School.  A fantastically festive time was had by all – thank you to everyone who came and made it such a wonderful occasion.

The following OBs and former staff joined the party (along with their guests):

Martin Snaith (53-63), Richard Harrison (59-64), Alan Barcock (55-65), David Warbrick-Smith (59-65), Dr Mark Hedges (62-66), David Fletcher (58-69), Marcus Thomas (76-81), Roger Marks (71-82), Steve Lyon (73-84), Dr Jason Reddy (79-84), Rob Campbell (staff 94-13) and Colin Baker (staff 79-16), Clara Policella (Alumni Officer 16 -)
