The 1st XV receives a great deal of support throughout the season, which is always greatly appreciated. However, it is not often that we can say that two Old Bedfordians have travelled over 15,000 miles between them to watch their old school play!
This was indeed the case on Saturday 30th September as both twin brothers, Robin Harper from Vancouver and Mike Harper from Melbourne were at the Oakham match. They attended Bedford School from 1960 to 1965, and both played in the 1st XV before going onto Cambridge. Having travelled quite literally halfway across the world they were, of course, delighted to see the 1st XV victorious (9-3) in their hard-fought battle away at Oakham.
We wish Robin and Mike a safe journey back to their respective homes, and should say that we fully understand why they may not be ‘popping back’ to watch another fixture this season.
