Projects, Pursuits and Courses
Here at Bedford we pride ourselves on the range and breadth of extra curricular options available to our students. Aside from the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and CCF sections, there are a further eighty clubs and societies that our students can become involved in during their time with us. All of these have an enthusiastic member of staff coordinating them but our focus is to hand much of the ownership of these groups to the students themselves. Whilst the School is extremely successful in attracting high quality keynote speakers, we must not forget the crucial role played by the extensive network of clubs and societies in the development of those students involved in them.
With this in mind, our academic year is launched with the annual ‘Clubs and Societies Fair’. Modelled on a University Freshers Fair, the aim is to allow current student members to promote and market their club to all those who are new to the School. New boys can sift through our Clubs and Societies Manual and then speak to students about becoming involved. Whilst some clubs are open to more senior boys, fifty clubs can be joined by boys entering the school at Year 9.
