Information for Overseas Pupils
The School welcomes applications from students of all nationalities, faiths and backgrounds and we are proud to be a fully international community.
Entry is preferable at ages 9+, 11+, 13+ and 16+, but is also possible at age 14+ for a few students.
Applicants should register in the usual way and can take our entrance examination in their own country, either at the nearest British Council office, or at the premises of one of our overseas agents.
Pupils whose first language is not English often need some additional support (sometimes this may be a condition of entry to Bedford School). The Academic Support Department provides specialised help in English for academic purposes.
The number of lessons per week depends on your son’s ability in English in terms of the four skills of reading, writing, speaking and listening. Pupils in the 4ths generally have four teaching periods per week, Removes and 5ths usually have three, and Sixth Formers have two. Lessons take place in dedicated classrooms in the Academic Support Department and pupils have access to multimedia to help them progress.
