Established in 1891, the OB Club started life as a networking club for former students of Bedford School. Today, the Club continues to provide the invaluable link between generations of Old Bedfordians and with the School, through an annual programme of social, sporting and networking events and reunions. The Club is a world-wide organisation of some 7,000 members .
In the UK the Club is divided into 17 areas each with its own District Vice President (DVP) who is available to give advice and make introductions. There are 26 DVPs or Club contacts in other parts of the world and where there is no specific representative, the Club Director will usually have names and addresses of OBs in the area.
At the end of a boy's school career at Bedford, he is eligible to be a member of the Club, and is normally voted in at the Club's AGM in July. Once an OB, members receive the Club tie and are entitled to wear the OB colours. Members also receive the Annual Newsletter and their password and PIN for the database of members, which is accessible through the Internet.
As of September 2008, for boys starting the Upper School in the 4th form, the Club entrance fee is £25 per term. For those joining at a later date, the full fee is payable in instalments over the period.
The OB Club works closely with the School and the Bedford School Foundation, under the umbrella organisation of the Bedford School Association.
