In line with our boarding ethos, the Upper School operates a six-day timetable, with lessons on Saturday mornings. This longer working week gives boys greater time to explore the countless opportunities available to them and helps to ensure that they enjoy an evenly paced and productive schedule.

Monday to Friday, the day starts with a tutor group period, where boys catch up on all of the latest notices and key information that they will need for the day ahead and beyond. These periods also provide boys with an opportunity to touch base with their tutors, who are on hand to offer support or guidance, whether academic or pastoral. Lessons then start at 8.55am (8.40am on Saturdays). On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, boys have eight periods of lessons. On Tuesdays and Thursdays lessons finish after period 5 (lunchtime) to enable the boys to enjoy a wide range of sports and activities. On Saturdays, lessons again finish after period 5 as sports fixtures against other schools are typically played on Saturday afternoons.

wEEKLY tIMETABLE

Beyond the timetabled school day, there is a wide range of co-curricular activities on offer for boys, from Astronomy to the Rock Society, Sailing to Young Enterprise, as well as academic clinics for additional support and guidance. Boys who need to stay later, or who wish to study or complete their homework, can join boarders for dinner (for a small charge) and stay for supervised prep in the library up until 7pm.

Exeats

Each half term there is one Exeat weekend, which provides both boys and staff with a well-earned break from their busy timetables. On Exeat weekends, school finishes at 4.15pm on the Friday for the Upper School and resumes at 8.35am on Monday. Boarders are expected to leave their houses by 6.00pm on Friday and return between 6.00pm and 9.00pm on Sunday.
