This term has been exceptionally busy in terms of charity events. It began with Sebastian Sogan (Removes) announcing that he had a planned a charity row from Bedford to the sea, a 72-mile trip that would take three days and two nights during half term to complete. He and his brother Max (Year 8) rowed with their dad and Ian Rowe (OB and ocean rower). To date, they have raised £2,433 for Bedford Daycare Hospice; this included one-third of the September mufti day proceeds, the cake sale proceeds and some rugby programme sales. On Sunday 11th October, three teams entered the Rotary Club Wheelchair Relays Competition raising money for Whizz-kidz, WheelPower and Sport Bedford. Our A team won the entire event, and everyone enjoyed taking part.

The RSM organised the annual school poppy appeal and raised £1036 for the Royal British Legion.

On Saturday 21st November, we hosted the annual Rotary Club Swimathon in aid of FACES and BeChar; George Neave, James Smith, Duncan Johnston and Tom Stewart made up the school team.

The two mufti days raised funds for Headway Bedford, Bedford Daycare Hospice, UNICEF, Movember, FACES and Keech Hospice Care. The Founders and Benefactors Retiring Chapel collection raised money for the Utange Orphanage, Kenya. The Biology Society celebrated British Biology Week with a human organs themed bake off, with the cakes being sold in aid of Headway Bedford. Open Mic Night raised funds for Movember, DJ Night raised funds for Cancer Research UK and the St Cecilia’s Day Concert raised funds for Bedford Daycare Hospice. The Carol Services raised money for FACES and Bedford Daycare Hospice.

The term ended with thirty-five boys and staff taking part in the Keech Hospice Care Santa Run around The Embankment. Max Williamson (upper sixth) won the race, with Mr Waterhouse, Harun Cehovic and Mr Cassell all finishing in the top 10. It was great to see other boys volunteering and members of the Under 14 Bedford Blues squad running around as a team. To sponsor the team, please go to www.justgiving.com/BedfordSchoolSantaRun2015

Including Movember, we have raised an incredible £18,250 this term. Thank you to everyone who has got involved.

This brings the total since September 2007 to £237,696.
